Q - Do you require a rental damage deposit? |
A - Yes. All DRIVERS are required to provide a damage deposit in the form of a credit/debit card authorization. While the authorization is not a charge on the credit/debit card, it does put a hold on those funds. The availability of those funds, if not charged against for any damages, tickets, impound costs, etc., will vary from bank to bank. The funds are generally released within 3-5 business days but is beyond the control of Altitude Dream Cars.
Please also remember that you authorize Altitude Dream Cars to charge the credit/debit card presented at the time of rental for any additional charges authorized by your Rental Agreement, including unpaid parking tickets, traffic violations, etc. according to the terms of your Rental Agreement. We may charge these amounts on your credit/debit card without obtaining any additional permission from you. Altitude Dream Cars assumes no responsibility for any bank charges or other charges incurred by you because of authorization holds blocking access to funds in the accounts associated with your credit/debit card or charges placed on the account as authorized by your Rental Agreement.
You may ask, doesn't insurance take care of damage? The answer is yes & no. Insurance is primarily there for catastrophic situations, not incidental damage. We require that our vehicles are maintained to show room quality for every rental and if a door is dinged or wheel is scratched, to wait for a claim is difficult and may actually result in additional out-of-pocket costs to you as we will charge for lost revenue. With a damage deposit, you guarantee that the car will be returned as it was checked out.
